SEO techiques we execute for our clients
Media Architects peforms the following SEO [search engine optimization] tasks on behalf of our clients for any website it has created. It is followed by a list of a la carte fee-based tasks, which vary depending on business type and task. We'll help you figure it all out.
What we do for free, one time, included in your website fee:
The approach to website design from the onset of the design phase is very important; both in the html in the background, and what is visible on the pages. We do all this as we design the website. Note that the super clean, minimalist homepage (which is very attractive, we agree!) is not the best way to approach a site design if SEO is your main aim, nor is Flash. Search Engines want to see content!
- title each page uniquely in html
- write a desciption to accompany the title in html
- label images
- imbed a lot of relative content in text and image vis-a-vis the title page and desciption
- review competitors' metadata titles, descriptions and keywords and use them as applicable
- do not cheat by listing a huge myriad of towns you serve (in fact, the search engines will now reject pages like that)
- stay away from other content, e.g., linking to porn or to sites with megalinks, which search engines don't like
Fee-based SEO services:
1. Change content regularly!
2. What most designers don't tell you: just as important and often more so, is the engagement of the client her/himself in a multi-faceted social media network that ultimately points people to your site, including: Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, and more [which of the following social media is effective for your SEO depends on the type of organization. We can make recommendations]. We will guide you to implement Social Media tools.
3. We can write your blog. Or, we will research and then suggest the theme of a blog that will get traction across multiple categories, attracting readership of varous interest bases. Writing a blog whose content targets audiences that are also interested in the services of your businesses is a super plus. Again, it's an opportunity to point people to your website. It's important to know that if your competitor is writing a popular blog and has better search engine rankings than your website has, this is a powerful reason why.
4. Register with online listings/directories: Yellowpages, Merchantcircle and the other most poluar ones (10-12).
Caveat: With address/location specific listings like those on Yellowpages and Verizon website "phonebooks", your site might be overlooked on occasion e.g., the search terms used in a Google search, "Plumbers in Newburyport" results in seeing only Newburyport Plumbers at the top of the list who are actually located in Newburyport. Because Yellowpages has listed your actual brick and mortar location as, for example, Haverhill, MA you may miss out on a good ranking. Tricky, eh?
5. We'll get on the phone and offer the exchanging of posting of links on websites. Naturally, it helps a lot to have links that are a complement to any given organization/website. By the way, the linking itself is limited in its usefulness. Getting someone to click on the link to your website on someone else's site, that is what you are aiming for! Therefor, we design mini-ads to post on others' websites.
6. Closer to a magic bullet is to pay Google for advertising/pay-per-clicks/adwords; i.e.,"Pay your way to the top!"
7. Or we can research and organize paying for advertising (with a link to your website) on a website that both enjoys high volume traffic and appeals to the audience(s) you want to attract to your organization/website.
